- This assignment will give you a glimpse of the excitement and, more importantly, the cost of owning your own car.

- One thing that is important in the process of gaining control of your finances is budgeting. A budget is an estimate, often itemized, of expected income and expenses for a period of time (usually one month).
- Access the handout for the Monthly Budget assignment and complete the work according to the instructions provided.
8. Career Document #1 - Job Application
- In order to purchase a car, rent an apartment, buy groceries and pay other bills one must have a job. A person often fills out a job application in order to apply for a job.
- Read a handout called Job App Tips.
- Ask your teacher for a job application and fill it in as if you are applying for a job.
- Turn in the completed job application.

- A resume is a brief, typed document of one's professional/work experience and other qualifications for a job.
- As you get older and approach the work you are interested in doing for your career, part of the job application process includes having a resume.
- Use the handout called, CCResumeBuildActivity, to learn about and use a tool on the Career Cruising website called the Resume Builder. The Resume Builder will help you enter the necessary information and print your own resume.
- Print and turn in a copy of your finished resume.
